A Bias Toward Action
I recently read The Everything Store by Brad Stone about Amazon and Jeff Bezos.
One of Bezos' key tenants that really stuck with me was having a "bias toward action."
I introduced the phrase to our team at Green Zebra, and I am slowly trying to integrate the principle more into my daily life - both at work and in the rest of my life.
Historically, I have had a tendency to overthink things, sometimes to my benefit (thoughtfulness) and other times to my detriment (analysis paralysis, researching but never acting, etc).
Thoughtfulness is important, but you can only glean so much from thinking. At some point you have to act.
Right now I am trying to make action - thoughtful action - more of my default.
Do. Learn. Repeat.
