Hacking the Weekend
It's Friday afternoon and I am working remotely in Oregon's high desert.
Standing Desk Life Wherever I Go
I woke up early this morning and hit the road for the three hour drive.
By 10:00 AM I was plugged in at my quiet and peaceful "desk" with a beautiful view.
In an hour or so when I wrap up, I won't be rushing out the door to try and beat traffic.
Instead I'll just close my laptop, go for a run on the country roads, and then crack open a beer.
This is one of my favorite weekend hacks.
If the work you do is not location dependent, and you're planning to go out of town for the weekend, consider arriving to your destination on Thursday night or Friday morning, and then working remotely on Friday.
You still get the same amount of work done (or more), but it makes your vacation feel so much longer and leisurely.
It's also good for your brain and creativity to do work in new places. Seriously - I believe that you come up with different ideas and make new associations when you go to new places and mix up your routine.
Finally, it's just more fun.
So to sum up - 4 reasons to hack your weekend:
1. Get the same amount of work done (or more).
2. Enjoy more vacation.
3. Spur creativity and better results.
4. Have fun.
Happy Independence Weekend to all of you good people!
